Apples, apples, apples

Apples, watercolour

My first proper blog post and it’s only turned out to be apples again. “Why do you paint so many apples?” someone near and dear to me might once have asked. Well I’ll tell you:

They’re not a complicated shape are they? You have to do quite badly to make them not look like an apple.

They’re always lying around in the house. Except for on a Monday, when we’re waiting for Tesco to turn up. Other than that I can pretty much guarantee that I can find an apple. Except in this case, I borrowed a picture from the internet, so bang goes that argument.

The real reason is that I had a whole day of painting and I just couldn’t get my act together. I wanted to do something good, something that would really jump off the paper and I just couldn’t make it work. Watercolour is really tricky sometimes! So in despair, I thought I’d just paint something I knew I could make a decent stab at, and that was this.
