Furry Friends

It’s been a while since I posted here, blog fans, so apologies if you haven’t been able to sleep for wondering what I’ve been up to. Actually, I decided a while back to do an online art course. What I really wanted was to be pushed to experiment with techniques and subjects that I wouldn’t normally concentrate on - to avoid the rut of just doing the same kind of stuff over and over again….more apples anyone? Another benefit is that I have a tutor, who will critique my work and (hopefully) feed back on ways that I can expand my artistic horizons plus hone my techniques. So here are some pics from one of the excercises - drawing animals. Not something I would necessary gravitate towards, I certainly found it both interesting and enjoyable. I don’t think Albrecht Durer has anything to worry about just yet, but it was a good thing to have done.

The models in this excercise were a tabby cat from Pixabay (a good source of royalty-free images), Leo (a friend’s cat), Slidey and Freddie the border terrier. Freddie is sadly no longer with us, but I’m hoping to paint him in acrylics soon.
